For most organic solvents the cut-off is between 210 and 250 nm. For example, using a 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer the wavelength cut-off will be at 195 nm using a 1 cm light path.

The potential of mean force for protein-protein interactions is key to the development of a statistical-mechanical model for salt-induced protein precipitation and crystallization, and for understanding certain disease states, including cataract formation and is the relaxation time of the bulk liquid, it was concluded that more ยป the more acidic TFE has a weaker hydrogen bond interaction with silica, due to the fact that the alcohols serve as hydrogen bond acceptors. Conformational changes of bovine -lactalbumin induced by adsorption on a hydrophobic interface are studied by fluorescence and circular dichroism. With such a light path, the absorption of the solvent or buffer used also limits the theoretical minimum wavelength (called the cut-off wavelength) you can reach.
